Hello to all fellow picture book illustrators, authors, and enthusiasts! Just wanted to take a minute and gush about Watercress -- this year's Caldecott Medal winner and illustrated by one of my all-time favorite illustrators, Jason Chin. (Written by Andrea Wang, let's not forget her!)

This book is a masterpiece -- the writing is so good and the illustrations are amazing. Definitely worth a read ... maybe even a picture book breakdown, @davidhohn ???

Anyways, just wanted to share. Have an awesome day, everyone!

@melissa_bailey I saw this award today. So great! Did you ever see his Grand Canyon book? Pretty amazing!
Definitely worth a book breakdown! (just spent this morning putting together one for Where the Wild Things Are)

@davidhohn YES! Grand Canyon is amazing -- I own it and periodically get it off the shelf and marvel at it and how he figured out the die cuts.

Looking forward to Where the Wild Things Are -- so glad that it's time to break out the breakdowns again!

It is GORGEOUS! I can't wait to actually read it. I just keep staring at the art from it online.

Also side note I have suspended my SVS membership like 3 times for nasty grown up things like budgets- and then as soon as I do @davidhohn does another picture book breakdown and I re-up it again. 😝 I seriously learn SO much from those... 🙂

This looks gorgeous! Looking forward to reading it, although it doesn't seem to be available in the UK at the moment. Hopefully soon! 🤞
