Instagram questions

Hey guys I’m fairly new to social media( about a year or two) and Instagram is the only one I use. When people message you saying “promote it on @blahblahblah” or “dm @suchnsuch” what does this actually do for you? And do you guys do it? I understand it’s probably more advertising and promotional stuff but when I look at the profile it doesn’t always align with what I’m doing. Thanks for any help you guys have to offer.

Hey,
i delete those comment and also block the accounts.
I guess its only bots bothering us...not even worth you time. -
@von_nimmermehr ok thank you I figured it was something to that extent
-
@asyas_illos personally those drive me crazy because 1)they’re bots, 2)I’m not going to pay for fake followers because that’s what that would end up doing and 3)if that person genuinely cared about supporting us as artists they would actually follow and engage us

@asyas_illos Those posts are SPAM. Don't take them up on their offer. That said, comments are still interaction in the algorithm's eyes, so what I do every time I get one of those is, I like it and respond "Thanks." because it will push up the popularity of your post. Once it's been a couple days since I posted it, I will sometimes delete those comments, sometimes I don't bother. I don't care that much.
Wait til you get artists dream job offers in your email that are just phishing. (They usually tell you to use an app called Telegram to communicate.) It's kind of cruel.

@elinore-eaton @lpetiti thank you so much

Thanks for posting this because I have gotten a couple of those comments as well and even had someone ask for me to pay them to put my stuff on their site, but I was never followed by them. They just seemed to want money.

@elinore-eaton Yeah, Elinore is right, they're spam. I would either delete them or not interact with them at all.
