Hello. I want to teach kids how to draw!
-
Hello!
Just a very quick intro from me. I'm Tom and recently, after much hesitation, I started my own YouTube channel to help kids (and beginners) learn how to draw. This is a hobby I am truly passionate about : )
I have recorded myself drawing (animals, cartoon characters, objects, emojis and more…) in a cartoon style. This videos are set to a pleasant background with a voiceover explaining how to draw all subject matter step-by-step. And I have sprinkled in some fun facts and jokes to keep viewers entertained as they make their art.
The channel currently has around 20 videos ranging from 10 minutes (How to draw a cute ice cream cone) to 30 minutes (How to draw a baby dragon) long. I don’t expect you to watch them but if you have time please browse at your leisure.
Here is the link to the YouTube page
P.s. I’m not trying to sell anything - other than teach children to believe in themselves and see where their artistic talent can take them in life. I believe this could become an invaluable resource in the classroom and when learning from home, so if you know someone who would enjoy this please do share : )
Thanks,
Tom

Welcome Tom, I’ll have to check out your YouTube.

@tom-willis Welcome tom!! I'm doing a similar thing, love to see another person in the same space

@tom-willis Congrats on starting a youtube channel! I watched your ice cream video and your production quality seems great! Good job; these seem like great videos for kids.

@carlianne Yes, great to have some positive support from the industry! Your videos are awesome... how did you manage to get so many followers to your platform? I'd love to know as I only have a few.

@miranda-hoover Thank you so much, that means a lot! Everyone thinks it's just about putting pen to paper, but forgets the videos need to be made too!

@tom-willis my start was on Instagram first, then YouTube after I had about 20k on Instagram.
I did a video on how I grew my Instagram if it's helpful. But mainly I was able to get some really big tutorial accounts to reshare my work and I had a few tutorials that also had humor in them that did incredibly well. There aren't a lot of tutorials for stylized art either so I fit into that niche nicely.
The #arttips hashtag is my most productive hashtag
