Wonderland Rabbit Value Study

So I've finally had a little time to do a value study for the Wonderland Rabbit painting. Feedback is welcome and appreciated!!!!

@randarrington Looks like you nailed the value study. There is contrast focus on the watch and the landscape recedes in value to the very back. Great foreground tree to the left with slightly value contrast mushrooms. Great motion/action and composition. I will say my eye is drawn to the twig in the foreground. My eye moves to it and I'm intrigued why it's there and what purpose it has. It draws my eye around to his foot. Hummm...
Will you be rendering in color? I'll be curious to see how it turns out if you do.

@KatrinaF Hi Katrina!!! Thank you for the feedback. So I was hoping the twig would do a couple of things (it was a late addition) 1) an additional foreground element that helped push all of the levels backwards and 2) to create a return element to that tree on the left so that the eye would then be lead back up the tree to the tress in the background and then be pushed back into the image...at least that was what I was going for. I really like images that create that eye movement that locks viewers into the piece....With your observation, I'm afraid I've failed...I do see the framing around the foot :(.... I really like the shape of the twig...but I can certainly have it moving upward into the left tree creating a pure overlap and not acting as a frame on the foot. I'll probably change the way the grass is represented too...I think it's a bit too stylized.
Yes I'm planning on doing a gauche painting as the final piece. I'll probably do a digital color version too in order to solidify my color ideas before moving on to the final piece.
