Hello All! I was so excited to hear the April prompt is a treehouse!! So here's a couple ideas I came up with after thumbnailing... Feedback please!!! Is it too busy? Does it read well? Which one would you go with to continue down with more detail and color? Thanks in advance;)

This will be my first entry into Critique Arena! Trying to stay true to my style here and challenge myself a little with the perspective๐Ÿ˜ Jake your Exterior Environmental Design class was super helpful and props to you for helping me move out of serious creative blocks!

@ArtistErin I really like the bottom one, it says treehouse more to me, and good perspective too!

@ArtistErin I think the second design is a bit more fun. Keep in mind that it needs to be at a 3/4 view so it should be turned a bit more

@Griffin Thank you so much for pointing this out! So I decided to take the shoe concept and redesigned the look, a busy mom with way too many kids and crazy deserves an awesome shoe for her house. Thoughts on perspective? And wanted to tell a story too, what do you see that is going on and how can I make improvements?

Hi Erin, the one thing that I can pick out as a potential issue, is that itโ€™s really hard to tell that the house is a shoe. I would move the heel back so that you can see it. From where itโ€™s placed right now, it feels like itโ€™s also too far forward so that should help with the shoe itself. Super cute idea!

@AngelinaKizz Yeah I see that! I fixed it. Also in my effort to shift the scale of Mom I didn't adjust the door so I shrunk the window down and elongated the door. Trying to fix unnecessary tangents with the front of the shoe where the railing wraps. The color palette looks different when I upload! The atmospheric background details show more grey instead of my planned lavender greys.

                  Thank you!!!

Ok so, deciding to approach designing this new idea that was nagging me at 3 am until it finally came out:
I listened to the previous podcast from March challenge, "Lucky" and found we shouldn't involve characters in this image, or signage with letters etc. so I decided yet again to redraw a whole new concept. I love the shoe and may go back to it, take out the characters and see what happens.

What are your thoughts on this new one? Still polishing up the too dark lines and bringing in more tone to imply shadow. Sorta figuring out how I like to use certain texture...

Anyway I am curious what your thoughts are!

Thanks so much ๐Ÿค— ThickTree copy.jpg

@Asyas_illos Yeah me too!!! I want to add a slide into a waterfall/pool! LOL Maybe if I draw it would I wake up one day and find myself there??? I am going to follow a tip Lee White put out in one of his YouTube videos, making texture by painting watercolor/acrylics/oils, then scan in! I am not going to do oil but absolutely the other two:) Can't wait to see how I can use those in the context of making cool art...
