SCBWI Carolinas Illustrators Intensive tomorrow?
-
Hey all! I'm signed up for tomorrow's sold-out event with SCBWI Carolinas. This is my first time attending an SCBWI webinar, and I wondered if any of my fellow SVS buddies were going to be there, too?
Sessions to be taught by Agent Chad Beckerman from CAT, Art Director Brian LaRossa of Scholastic, and some guy named Lliw Yrret or something. @Will-Terry Can't wait to tune in.
Scroll down on this page for info on the May 21 event.

@Valerie-Light I haven't signed up for these live webinars, but I have gone to the illustrator socials in my mid-atlantic region and other live critique festivals, and I always come away having learned something
Let me know how tomorrow's webinars go, they look awesome!

@Valerie-Light I'd love to hear what you think once the event is done! I find it hard to justify registering for things like this (I'm poor
) , but I also can't deny how useful they are.

@Asyas_illos lol, i'm glad somebody got that!

@Kristen-Lango It was really really great. Super valuable information I can put to use right away.
An 8 hour day broken into 3 lectures.
Chad Beckerman, former Art Director and now Agent with CAT, talked about branding and style for illustrators. Really awesome demo about 10 or 11 different versions of the Harry Potter book covers. He gives the illustrators on his roster an assignment to make "A List 100 of your Very Favorite things to Draw." Then, make sure your portfolio looks like it was drawn by the person who loves those things.
Brian LaRossa, Art Director and Design Crit teacher gave some awesome tips on making your website and work easy for an art director to use. He's an excellent speaker.
Will gave a version of the Developing Visual Stories SVS class, mashed up with some examples from the March Lucky critique arena. (yeesh, I was afraid mine was going to come up!
)
Friendly group and awesome value for $70.
