Contract(s) for freelance illustration
-
Hi all! I’ve just told a new client who reached out to me that I’m interested in doing illustration work for their project, and now’s probably the time for me to send them some contracts. They are the owner of a marketing agency, but this specific project is outside of the agency, so all the contracts are up to me to supply, I believe. In the past I’ve mostly been doing work for people I know well in person, so I had been more lax about contracts, but now I really should have my bases covered (and look more professional, of course!).
This template from the Graphic Artists’ Guild https://graphicartistsguild.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/PEGs16-All-Purpose-Illustrator_s-Letter-of-Agreement-3.pdf looks pretty good, but what do you all think? As worded, it’s specific to one project. Is it customary to send an entire general purpose contract for every single project rather than a one-time general rights form followed by individual project orders? @lizardillo I know you do a lot of branding/commercial work for various clients, do you have a standard set of forms that you like?
Thanks!

@patricialamas Thanks for sharing about this and putting the question out there! I'm afraid I'm not the one to help you when it comes to contracts.
But I hope you get some good answers!!
