Drawing time....

@Maureen-Henry-Artist Hi Maureen. Thank you so much for your kind words!!!!
All of these images are natural medium. The little paintings are 3 x 5 gauche paintings on 140 lb watercolor paper. I've only painted with gauche once before so this was fun. They're straight to paint, no drawing allowed :D.
The birds are on toned paper using some new pencils I picked up from Jerry's Artarama. They create a really nice mark and lay down a very deep line. They're the super fat pencils though....which I didn't realize when I ordered them. They felt really odd in my hand. The do smudge nicely. I took a blending stump to them and was much happier after I had. Another really nice thing about them....is they would erase rather well. I was honestly surprised by that since the marks were so rich.
To be honest, they all look so much better in person. Especially the hawk, it looks so much better in person.
Which brings me to some questions. What technique have you guys used to get traditional medium into digital? If you're using a scanner, what kind are you using? (I've got a cheap all in one printer/scanner/copier which certainly doesn't do a great job) Have you found shooting the artwork with a camera translates to a more accurate result? (my camera is certainly better than the scanner
) Thank you all for any information!!!!

@randarrington I havenโt transferred any of my traditional work to digital. My gig is that I paint pet portraits and wildlife on rocks, so that doesnโt translate digitally. I got an iPad Pro a little while ago and am trying to learn how to draw/paint on Procreate. I am new to the digital world, but it is a lot of fun learning and experimenting with it. I am amazed at the traditional-type effects people can get working digitally. I am still playing around with the brushes and effects, and look forward to creating some wildlife and nature works.

@Jeremy-Ross Thank you so much

@randarrington Great drawings! The landscaping paintings are great too, but there is too much saturation in the whole canvas so there is not really a place where to focus on, at least to me.

@Eliana-Bastidas Thank you so much Eliana!!!! I can see that. I'll try and find the reference images so I can post them too. They were really over saturated and I was just trying to match it but as a painting....I'm completely agree with you.
I should have adjusted them to improve how they read.

@Maureen-Henry-Artist That's awesome!!! What a great gig you have!!!! I'm a traditional artist that's been working digitally forever now and I've never really needed to get final pieces into the computer since they were usually done in Photoshop or Illustrator/Freehand (back in the day LOL ) I hope you've tried Procreate because it's really good. Please feel free to ping me if you have question from that end and certainly try and answer them!!!! Have a great weekend!!!!!
Oh if you hit my Tumblr link the first image I posted there was a painting that I did in Procreate.
