@Mike-Babich this is a great start! I would say one thing to focus one for improving is more confident lines. Instead of of rough, scratchy lines, aim to make each clean clear and clean. As for this piece being suitable for inktober and critique arena, you can do whatever you want for inktober as long as it’s ink or ink-like. Since critique arena is based on the specific prompt that’s given I can’t really say if it’s working or not unless this was for a specific challenge.

Welcome! It looks like you’ve a good start on foundations like shape and perspective. Doodles like this are good for inktober, I would just work on cleaning it up a tad. As for critique arena the judges look for images that tell a story, make you feel something, and generally have a pleasing composition. It looks like you have the skills, but it’s hard to tell from this one image. Take a look at the past challenges on the critique arena website and go through the top 16 and compare yours to those who made it in, as well as who won. Here’s a link.

@Mike-Babich hi mike welcome! I like your style. It reminds me of Karl Kopinski’s work. His lines are super messy but he makes it work. It really depends on what look you are going for and doing it with confidence.

Here’s a screenshot of his work:
