I like this concept, great idea! It would look great as a reading lamp in a cosy library type setting.

When it comes to the design of the object, I think there are a few areas where you could push it further for a greater effect. I am by no means a fishbowl-lamp expert, though, so I might be completely wrong. 🙂

      1. Your lamp looks like it would fall over quite easily. A fishbowl is a heavy object, and the curve of the wood combined with the width of the base doesn't suggest to me that the lamp could support it. I would suggest either straigtening the foot a bit and placing the bowl less off kilter, or counter-balance the bowl in some other way.
      2. The whimsy of the leaf as the switch is a great element, however it doesn't easily read as a switch, more like a screen. Maybe adding some element to it, such as a pull-chain or a knob or something could make the function more clear?
      3. I love that the lamp itself is a tree. Maybe you could play up this even more by having a branch jut out from it and perching a small bird on it? Also, I think it would look awesome if the base was more organic looking, with roots as the main support, rather than the flat, structured base plate.

      Good luck!

@Stephanie-H this is a cool idea! I think the main reason it’s not coming across as a lamp is because the fish bowl needs to glow more. I did a quick paint over so you can see what I mean. Also, the leaf doesn’t look quite big enough to cover the lamp, so I tried making it bigger. FFE55C37-CFD2-41AF-AA7E-99A9D9E9959C.jpeg

@kirsten-mcg Awesome, thank you. How does it look in the final prop ensemble above?

@Stephanie-H I like the ensemble. Must be owned by one eccentric gnome with some taste!

@Stephanie-H it looks good! Much more glowy. 🙂 If you paint it again you could try making the water in the bowl even lighter, and the fish as well to help emphasize the glow even more. Lights are usually white at their brightest point, and then fade into a light color.
