I was just curious if anyone has participated in local holiday bazaars in your community with your art? What made your experience successful or unsuccessful? Product ideas? Just curious, we have two large bazaars that happen in our small community so it got me thinking 🤔

You posted a question I often think about. While I don't have personal experience, the Illustration Dept recent released a podcast with a similar theme. Giuseppe toured an arts festival and interviewed different vendors (a potter, pet portraitist, etc).

I would recommend to build customer profile on people who goes to these bazaars. Are they locals or tourists? Is the local community known by others for something particular (ie. apple picking at Martha's Vineyard)? Most are looking for an out of the ordinary holiday gift, so something quirky that reflects the recipient's values.

Usually when I walk through a bazaar t-shirts relating to pop culture with an edgy reinterpretation draws attention.

A former art teacher always told us, if we need quick money do pet portraits.
