I recently finished a teaching contract, that was way too much for me, meaning I couldn't do anything but work most of the time. So, I can finally draw again! I decided to try to pick up where I left off. This is my really rough attempt at the exterior design assignment 1. It's an underwater castle for the mayfly (baetistidae) larva beast. I tried to vaguely make it French, and have cabomba flowers around. I don't know much about buildings and am not good at details.

      These are my silhouettes:

I picked the one on the right, but it was very challenging for me to convert to anything even remotely real and three-dimensional. I wanted his castle to be falling apart a little bit. So one of the towers is broken.

@lucy_gow get some inspiration of drawings or real castles that you like. Now it seems to be leaning forward, but it's a great starting place! Maybe it helps to think more in basic shapes first and then continue to details. I tried to make a castle week ago and found it super hard, so good job to you! Sometimes it helps me to build some random thing of lego or use something my kids lego buildings because it gets more out of the box than I can come up with on paper. Keep it up!

@lucy_gow Your designs are really fun to look at! I think you actually did a pretty good job of converting to a 3 dimensional castle. That step can be hard. Just remember that the little design thumbnails are just to help you build a nice looking silhouette. If the final design ends up being slightly different from the original concept I think that's ok, as long as you manage to keep an interesting shape.
