So my assignment this week is to read a book from start to finish, and redo the cover.
I’ve omitted the title, and in our critique sessions we’re supposed to see if we can garner the overall idea of the book as well as the genre. I would love to hear your thoughts on what the idea of this book is, and what genre you think the book is to see if I’m on the right track.
@AngelinaKizz I'll try, but I'll probably get it totally wrong, so don't worry if that is the case. 
The idea seems to be the distance between people – they are having trouble connecting or communicating. The gap between them is far enough that you need a car to drive it, going up and down steep hills. The core of the story seems to be about human relationships.
The rectangles suggest digital worlds. Perhaps they connect in some other way? Digital suggests scifi maybe? But only maybe. Pieces seem to be drifting away. Suggesting part of the connection is fuzzy and lost. The colour scheme to me suggests an audience that is young adult (like 16-25) perhaps, because it is quite fresh and modern.
One ambiguity to me is – I can't tell if they are supposed to be the same person or not? Are they two copies of the same person, or twins? They look the same.
@lucy_gow oooh this is so interesting. It's not quite right, but some comments are embodying the story so that's encouraging!
It's actually a story about 2 women in their 80s with alzheimers. They're "dead while they're still living" in a nursing home. They hatch a plan to escape, convince a homeless man to drive them from Ottawa Canada to Vancouver Canada in a stolen car, for one last hurrah.
@AngelinaKizz I guess Women's Fiction genre catered for older audience? Not sure if I could deduce the story from here. Old ladies navigating through digital world? Haha. Sorry if I am completely off base.

@AngelinaKizz I just read your explanation. I did have a sense of getting lost from the square things but it feels a bit Y2K to me (hence why I read it as "getting lost in the digital world") haha. Now I see how it can be fragments of lost memory but you might want to try more organic shapes if you don't want it to read as a digital/cyber world. But this is only my 2 cents! All the best

@AngelinaKizz maybe you could make the faces/heads themselves more fragmented with pieces missing in it to depict the sense of loss and confusion? A cooler or more gary colour palette might convey more the idea of the end with the car being a source of hope with a contrasting colour? Just brainstorming some ideas. I did think it was a family/relational story. The squares also gave me a digital feel. It's a great idea for a challenge.
@AngelinaKizz Oh, interesting! I think I understand the colors better now – is it to do with sunset? Like driving off into the sunset? I like the idea of have the little pieces drift off now that I know what they mean.
