I actually saw The Triplets of Belleville for the first time recently. Such a fun quirky unique movie. I definitely enjoyed it! Some films that have been super inspiring to me as an artist are:
      Klaus
      Castle in the sky
      Dofus Book 1 Julith
      the prince of Egypt
      Wolfwalkers
      Princess Arete

@Mimi-Simon Ooo I love Wolfwalkers. It's so beautifully done. The studio also made the move The Book of Kells and another Irish related story that I cannot remember the title. Fantastic work!

@ksfabian Song of the sea. I love that movie too but I think Wolfwalkers informed my art more just based on my personal taste. Cartoon Saloon also made the breadwinner and my father's dragon as well as one of the upcoming star wars visions shorts. The trailer for the new batch of those just dropped today coincidentally.

Yes! Such great animations all. (And I've taken note of the ones I haven't seen yet, thanks!)
My favourite ever, and most inspirational (art-wise), animated movie is The Thief and The Cobbler (though it's hard to find the right version. If you're watching the one where the thief speaks then that's the wrong one. 😅) Only the most beautiful and intricately illustrated scenes in the world, ever (so far as I know). 😍

@Nyrryl-Cadiz That's a great one actually. I love Anderson's films and much of that is to do with how he shoots and designs his films. 🙂

YES, The Thief and the Cobbler was one I was thinking of when making this thread. I could have just run off a huge list of films but wanted to leave some room for suggestions. Haha.

Gotta throw in a few more.

Disney's Sleeping Beauty with all the amazing backgrounds done by Eyvind Earle.

Of course anything by Cartoon Saloon, be it Wolfwalkers, or my other favorites Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea.

I think Into The Spider Verse should be mentioned.

Also, while Ghibli films are also a bit of a must have, how about Paprika from director Satoshi Kon.

@Blitz55 Haha! It's like a test... Who's going to mention the ones on your list... 😆
Yes! I'd forgotten about Into the Spiderverse. Must watch it again.
