Hi Everyone! Just wanted to say how much I love “How to Fix Your Art”, especially the lectures before the fixing.

I’ve decided to go back to all my pieces and look for opportunities to fix my own art based on all the good lectures and tips provided by @Jake-Parker , @Lee-White , @will-terry-art and @davidhohn.

Here’s my first fix with notes; please let me know if you like the updates.

@Jeremy-Ross I think it looks great Jeremy, but will it print? The values look a little high, I'm worried they won't be CMYK accurate.

Thank you @Michael-Angelo-Go! It prints perfectly! I used 16x20 canvas at 300 dpi with SRGB for bright colors.

          Thanks for your kind words.

I desaturated the piece by 40% to tone down the brights and like this option much better!

Hello Everyone, I’m back with another round of:

“How To Fix My Art” - self-fix edition.

Here’s a book cover I dreamed up one day after celebrating my daughter’s birthday. I liked it, but frankly - it’s cliche.

I decided to give the book some emotion and while at it, decided to put the cover on a mockup Picturebook to see it come to life.

I even went so far as to put the book on a bookshelf at local bookstore to see how it stacks up with the amazing books published.

              Can you spot it?

                Yep, I’m back for yet another round of;

                “HOW TO FIX MY ART”

This one is special because it made Sweet 16 I critique arena, to which I incorporated all the suggestions provided by our SVS fearless leadership.

It’s Labor Day, and I’m enjoying this much needed break from my day job to focus on (50’s announcer voice…)

                  “FIXING MY ART!”

This time, I decided to fix my “Wish Upon A Star” piece.

During my Portfolio Review by @Lee-White , he mentioned that this piece needed some more crisp line work and that the star in the little girl’s arm was confusing. Is it the same star in the window? A different star? He also said the lighting was off, which I completely agree.

Without further ado, here’s the before and after with commentary, and full size fixed version.

You guessed it, Ladies & Gentlemen!

We’re back for another (insert Boxing Ring Announcer voice…)

“HOW TO FIX MY OWN ART!”

Here’s an old favorite of mine just needing a little tweaking (not twerking) based on all the good lessons I’ve learned from our SVS Teachers.

                    What do you think? Better?

                      Hi Y'all!

You guessed it, I’m spamming the forum with yet - another…

“HOW TO FIX MY OWN ART!”

Sadly, I lost my Dad this year to Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. When I was a young buck, I remember spending time with my Dad looking at the moon and stars on clear nights in Texas.

@Jeremy-Ross sorry for your loss. Personally I think creating a piece to represent someone you have lost is a great way to remember them. It is nice to think about them and put meaning into an art piece that tells something about that person. Also this is such a sweet art piece just on its own 🙂
Love the changes, this is great that you are going back through so much art and putting "how to fix your art" to the test. Love it!

Thank you for your kind words @MerryMary, much appreciated.

Also, appreciate your feedback about my corrections based on all the great HTFYA videos from our fearless leaders.

I’m enjoying fixing my own art, which I’m sure could be redone much better, but doing what I can now to improve my portfolio.

                          Thanks again!

                            Howdy Folks,

It’s your friend from Texas, Jeremy Ray Ross.

That’s right, we’re gathered here today to witness, yet another…

                            Wait for it…

“HOW TO FIX MY OWN ART!”

You might remember this piece made Sweet 16 at Critique Arena. Our pal, @will-terry-art said during the critique,

“This piece could be a lot better if we just made the dog running away with the skeleton’s leg” - @will-terry-art

Well now, Mr Terry - You weren’t lying! This here re-do looks a hell of a lot better now.

                            What ya’ll wrecken?
