I know we've all gotten these type of emails asking to buy your work but have you gotten on like this?

      Hello,

I've been exploring your artwork and I'm impressed by your talent. I'm currently curating an event and I think your pieces would be a great fit. If you're interested in showcasing your work, I'd love to discuss further. Please let me know if this opportunity aligns with your goals and we can schedule a time to talk.

      Best regards,

This is the email that was used

You know, last week I got something somewhat similar, but the person that emailed me 'supposedly' worked for a school district in California. My suggestion if you aren't convinced the email is legit would be to look for alternate means of communication (i.e. LinkedIn, company email, phone number, etc) and see if they are indeed who they say they are and if they are trying to get in contact with you.

I wound up ignoring the email I received as there were enough red flags and no other means of contacting the 'supposed' person. Could have been legit, but I'd rather not chance it and get my inbox inundated with spam as a result.

Hopefully you can get it figured out.

@randarrington Emails like these are so generically worded that they could apply to anything (art, wood crafts, cakes, photography). Any serious event coordinator would include absolute specifics about the event, where they found you, and perhaps even specific artworks they want to include. And I would think that a phone number would be used in addition to an email if they really wanted to have you contact them. Stay far away!

Scammy. I've gotten several of these. No details is generally a big clue. A real person will sound like a real person, and offer at least some info. And if you write back, they will be forthcoming.

I say this because I recently go one of these that was specifically about kidlit, but no details and very cagey when I asked for more. After the defensive response to a very normal request for more info, I just stopped writing back.
