How do groups work and how do we set one up.

Unless the admin group says otherwise, I checked out NodeBB since that is the name in the top right of the forum, click here, to find out how to make groups and it looks like this is just something the admin can create to separate the admin from the users. Again, this is just me doing some google searching--but that's what I found...
