Some Clip Studio sketches
-
I recently finished a yearlong comics project and did some of the work for that in Manga Studio 5/Clip Studio Paint (these are two names for the same product).
Because of the simple, flat nature of the comics work, I didn't spend a good deal of time learning the features of CSP. It's rather intimidating and also unlike Photoshop in a number of ways. I can see how powerful it is, though, so I'm trying to learn more.
These are some of the sketches I've been doing so far:

I been thinking about picking up a copy of that, how is it with line work? I heard its fantastic and feels very natural when pulling a line

Nice work. I love Manga studio. I think it's the app out there for drawing.

@Chip-Valecek It's excellent for linework, far better than Photoshop. There are a variety of stabilization options for inking. I prefer to sketch without any sort of smoothing, but when it's time to ink, it can be a big timesaver to keep the line stable.
The guide system is very confusing to me so far, as is the implementation of textures/tones/patterns. This is simply my unfamiliarity, though. I have been using Photoshop for over 15 years and it's worked its way into my subconscious. Going back to the beginner level is never fun. But it seems like it will be worth it! I would never have been able to do the second drawing without a perspective grid of some kind. I have ways of making those in PS but they're suboptimal. The perspective system in CSP is far more powerful, albeit not intuitive. Thankfully, the CSP manual is dense and there are many tutorials on the web.
I have a license for Photoshop CS6, which was the last version that allowed for one-time purchase before they moved to the subscription model. To me, buying Clip Studio is a no-brainer. When it goes on sale it costs between 20-35 $US for a perpetual license!

@zoe This looks like a really interesting tool and you are right - at this price tag seems a no-brainer. I have seen most tutorials are in Japanese....is it easy to find training material in English?

It's not as easy as it is to find material for Photoshop (just by virtue of Photoshop's 20+ year history), but there is a growing interest in CSP/Manga Studio so it's not difficult overall. If you have access to Lynda.com, apparently there is a good series on there.

I bought clip studio in April. Still haven't tried it out. I will be brand new to finishing a digital drawing. Yours look great! Something to asspire to
