Illustrating Snow White in an epic Lord of the Rings style.

There's a sort of Cartoon Saloon's Song of the Sea vibe to this - I love what you have so far!
-
Wow! To all of the above. I LOVE your Snow White and I love all the inspiration pieces you posted too. It also reminds me a bit of Song of the Sea. I'm obsessed with the art in that movie. Something about putting a touch of Celtic mythology on a piece to make it deep and mysterious.

Thank you bharris, Reann and Pamela! Yes, I'm very much obsessed with Song of the Sea and the Secret of Kells too, the fact it reminds you of it, it's the highest praise I can hope for
A king burial stuppa nestled somewhere in the wild forest, with the three moons: Mummer, Minstrel and Melody floating in the night sky.
A water nymph.
Everybody meet Prince charming. Both his mature and child versions.
The prince finds Snow-White after she dies from the poison apple. Joseph Campbell stressed the importance of water and watery environments in both dreams and myths, they serve as a border between the real and the fantastic (or rather subconscious). -
Okay, up to this point I've shown you only concept art. Here's one of the final pieces:
The first drawing is the one I did in Bucharest 4 months ago. I started out good, but when it came time to color things I cocked things up and made an even bigger cocking when I tried to "repair" my cock ups by adding more color.
I also didn't like the way baby Snow-White turned out in the right, so I changed her look in the new rendition.
A problem I had last time was making the king look like he's apart of the sea. I don't know how I'm going to do that this time though.
This drawing is mainly inspired by this awesome Silmarillion fanart done by Mother of Bees

Looks so good!

You're definitely giving off the same vibe. I loved The Secret of Kells too! My son introduced me to it.

Hi guys. I'm in London right now.
I haven't been able to post anything because preparing for the trip was a high-wire act in of itself and I still can't believe I managed to pull it off, but hey here I am in London now
I'll be staying here 'till Friday and I'll be working on Snow-White just as soon as I find a nice coffee shop to paint in.
Scanning or taking photos will be a lot more problematic though the drawing, I won't have any internet on my phone until I get an english number.
I still want to hold this book in my hands, but it will take some time before I'll be able to post stuff again, so please stay tuned guys guys.

I'm loving this work. Can you list your social media?
-
Hey, that is great work!! Really love the style and where you're going with it.
I will say that it didn't strike me as "Snow White" however. I don't know if that should matter, but I guess the snow white character and the dwarves were far removed from my preconceived notions of them. (Grated that is HEAVILY influenced by Disney.)
But I think that what you're doing is better/more original.
All the best in this endeavor!

Thank you. ATM I can only give my Facebook page and Tumblr blog. I'm new to the whole social media thing, so my personal website is on my to-do list.

Aww gee shucks. As the story develops and I add more drawings, I'm hoping it will be more Snow-White in essence. It's not just Disney I want to distance myself however, but also the general Grimm's fairy tale look. I'm hoping this will turn more like Snow-White meets the Kalevala
But this is just wishful thinking at the moment. I'm moving to my student dorm tomorrow in Falmouth, and I'll finally be near a reliable printer to scan my drawings.
Please let me know latter on Shams if the story resembles Snow-White more. Cheers!
