Discovering "new" artists

Dulac.....to die for...

Thanks for starting this thread! Did not know of Sergio Pablos and Somnath Pal before but I will definitely be checking out their work.
I have pretty much only discovered concept artists by name in the last year and so far my most followed ones include Armand Serrano, Paul Felix, Marcelo Vignali, Jake Parker and Aaron Blaise. -
@bluesky71 Absolutely. As well as Arthur Rackam and, my personal favourite from that epoch, Franklin Booth.
The story goes that Franklin's only contact with the outside world in his remote outback was magazines. As he had never heard about engraving, he thought the pictures in the magazine were drawn with pen and ink, and so he developed a pen-and-ink technique that mimics engraving...

II have just discovered a new amazing illustrator I did not know before - somebody posted a picture on FB and I had to rever image search it to land on this treasure.
The artist is Michal Dziekan
-
@smceccarelli nice. He mixes line and color so well.....I have a new art hero...
-
Mary Blair. https://www.pinterest.com/ashleyisenhour/mary-blair/ I guess I'm a little embarrassed that I didn't know who she was until recently...the funny thing is I had all these reference images on my desktop of all the Disney stuff I love for years but had no idea who the artist was. Turns out they were pretty much all by her. Beautiful design and use of color in all her work.
-
@evilrobot You will probably then love Eyvind Earle too then:
-
@smceccarelli oh, wow yeah, that's great stuff!
-
@smceccarelli: Thanks for the mention my good friend! Much appreciated
I have stopped posting my works online, except occassionally on instagram
You can find them here: instagram.com/old_qfwfq
They are very different from the ones I have done here, but hope you enjoy them
-
@Sami Oh wow, your new work is just as beautiful as the one that caught my eye! You are going more representational and less stylized...are you working on a graphic novel?
-
@smceccarelli : Thanks for the kind words. I have been working on a short film
-
Reviving this old thread - because I have just discovered a new artist that blew my mind. I often "discover" new artists, but this one .....really....
His name is Chris Beatrice.
Realistic rendering may not be the thing nowadays, but apart from the fact that he does it at absolute mastery level and his painting skills are breathtaking, I have rarely seen somebody so skilled at color, light, composition and unusual viewpoints.
Absolutely inspirational and worth studying:

@smceccarelli I'm glad you revived this thread. I hadn't seen it and there is so much worth looking at here. I could spend hours on this thread alone.
-
@smceccarelli Wow, Chris Beatrice's work is beautiful! I just realised that I did a tutorial of his quite a while ago. The one based on the lute player, small world
Thanks for the inspirational thread!

Some stunning images here! Heโs probably already well know but Iโve been avidly following Brandon James Scott recently. Some great characters and love the style of his recent posts on Instagram. Hereโs a current favourite...

Okada Chiaki (or Chiaki Okada? I don't know which name is which). Every piece grips me with nostalgia.
