Inkling - my Inktober project

Page 5. I do not have the feeling that my inkling skills are getting any better.....

@smceccarelli This is looking good. I think you're doing great. I actually think you could get a job doing this. It's just as good if not better than a lot of stuff I've seen from the major publishers. I like the story telling and the pacing.

@evilrobot Thank you for your encouraging words! The breakdown of the story in panels was actually the most interesting part of the project and the one I am most happy with. It got me thinking about graphic novels for mid-grade and YA (my daughter gets them from the school library) and a project that may be perfect for this format. I may give it a go at some point...when I have sorted out all of the other stuff I am jostling at the same time...

Great work! This is really fun!
-
Page 7. I know I timed all of this, but it feels funny to be in the middle of October and not even remotely mid-way through the story....
-
Page 8 - this is the first page where I feel my inking has gotten slightly better....but it may get worse again
-
Looks good....:)
-
Page 9 - now I am halfway through the story!

And the big bad, woefully time-consuming central spread....took me three days of drawing (back in September) and one full day of inking...
But this was the image I had in my head that triggered the whole story three years ago...so happy to have it out of my system now...

@smceccarelli Beautiful!!

It is such a huge project to do all of this! I'm enjoying the story you've created, and wondering what is going to happen next! My main thought (not as a critique but just as an interested reader of the story), was after he saw the first creature come to life...when he started drawing more bizarre creatures, I wanted to tell him not to do that - maybe would better to test the theory by drawing a cute kitty cat, a huge chest of treasure, a pot of cash (or a pretty companion even!)... but then that might not make such a fun story
So I will look forward to seeing what happens, after the ink goes down the drain!
