Self Publishing or Traditional Publishing?

For those of us who are creating picture books, I'm curious to know what publishing route you're taking - Self or Traditional Publishing?
I'm currently working on my first picture book that I'll be publishing through CreateSpace ( Amazon ) once it's complete.
I'd love to work for a big publisher once my skills are where they need to be, but until then, I'm just striving to get better and in the meantime focus on starting AND completing my own books and projects....

@Ed-O Hey Ed - i am planning on publishing through Amazon too - The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is in the public domain and i thought when i was done with my Oz series of drawings that i would put them together with the text as an alternate Kindle Version (i have the pdf of the book from project Gutenberg) that's my plan anyways

@Ed-O I am in the last step of publishing with CreateSpace. I am just waiting for the final proof to come before I push the publish button. I really enjoyed working with createspace, the only downfall so far is their colors come out dark. The first proof the blues came out really muddy. I knew this before hand and lighten all of the blues but it still came dark, so the second proof I went even lighter. I hope it turns out. I should be getting the proof sometime this week. @Chip-Valecek that's good to know. Let me know how the proof comes out. I published a coloring book through CreateSpace last year… the interior was all black and white line work, but I thought the colors on the cover turned out pretty nice and matched the file pretty well. I'll be prepared to make changes, though. LOL

I went with PrintNinja and I felt like the product turned out well. It would be nice if they had an online page where you could upload an image and get an approximate idea how it would print (The Game Crafter does this with cards/boxes that you can have printed through them).
Very reasonable prices and great customer service.

@Ed-O - an self-published author and I put out a book using Print Ninja as well. They were really great to work with and the books came out really nice. We did opt to have a proof made, so that we could verify colors before having the books printed. There is a whole bunch of info on their site about setting up colors for their printing systems. It took me a few times reading through it and going over the various settings in Photoshop and InDesign but I eventually figured it all out.
