Experimenting with process/style
-
So my process is pretty well developed, to the point that I want to shake it up a bit and do things a bit differently. Until now my work has been pretty linework-dependent, starting with a detailed inked sketch and adding color to that. I wanted to experiment with a more shape-based approach--not getting rid of the line work entirely, but only using it where needed. This is what I've got with that so far.
My question is, is it working? Do the lines seem either too much or too little? Are the shapes working? Any thoughts appreciated. -
@Sarah-LuAnn I think this looks good! Your woodcut style looks really great to me too. This still has some of that feel to it - the whole thing seems so close to not needing a line at all it might be interesting to see how it might look without the lines on the horns, hands, arms and feet - ...maybe lighten the lines or blend more lines into the shadows to show the edges of forms? I don't know really ...just thinking out loud - it does look good to me though

Hmm. I think you're right. I think the lines still help define it, but they are a little dark now that I come back to look at it again. I can lighten them a bit so they don't grab so much attention and blend in a bit, but keep them there to help define the form. I'll play with it.
