I feel like I'm competing with my future self if that makes any sense. Or maybe my future self is encouraging me. I know I have a long way to go to what I want to draw vs what I am now but it's ok.

Do you still get something out of it though even if you feel a bit self-conscious during it?

@Stephanie-Hider well I do it really for "others" although my videos aren't really advertised or anything and they don't have a lot of clicks.

I guess I've never thought of doing it as some kind of review exercise--that is, to watch a play back to see what I did/how I can improve etc.

Here is a link to one of my vids for an example (I've done others on previous chanels I've had but right now I basically have this one up):

I've never made a video of my work because honestly, I think my process would be super tedious to watch. But what I have done is save periodically through the process to see how the image progresses through to the finish. I usually post these as a slide show on my blog along with the finished piece. Even as the artist its really interesting to see the stages a piece goes through before it's done.

@Sarah-LuAnn Neat, I agree. I am not fond of what I call my ugly stage where things are still very "stick" like for lack of a better term.

@mattramsey Very nice work. I really like how you added that orangy tint value at the end I need to apply that technique. He reminds me of game artwork, like I could see him in a mmo or something very nice! I get very few views as well but I am not really on youtube much and don't care to expand that. I enjoy instagram and twitter the most so I stay there primarily.

10 or 12 years ago I used to have a webcam setup that would broadcast to my website whenever I was drawing or painting. It was fun and the results were saved to youtube.

I've disconnected the camera as people now expect you to broadcast like those on Twitch Creative where the artists talks the entire time while playing music and interacts with their audience. I don't listen to music, I don't like speaking when I am drawing and I certainly don't want to interact with others either! If I had people skills I would have become an agent!

@jimsz I actually hate that too to be honest. Even when I am watching gamers play a game I want to see I think the whole let's chat and donate and ping ping ping annoying. I am trying to see a process or a game etc not be social. I get it when people want to be social every way they can but ya not my thing either. Have you ever thought about recording your movements and then exporting it out as a speed painting? You could still do it but not as live if you want to skip the social aspect. I use screenflick on a mac but I am sure if you are on a pc they have something similar.

Yes, I have done that a number of times with decent results. I used a simply stand alone camera app and had it take a frame every 20 seconds. The it was simply a matter of uploading it to youtube.

Do you have a link for your drawing videos?

@jimsz Sure but they aren't terribly exciting and most of them are tarot related. Most of them have no voice over. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZADenUhnTktopvkSPDvvdA Do you have a link as well?

I only have the videos I used to do via my website. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6sGiupB5jyf5XvR_tvoPAQ

I can't watch your videos right now (work!). I'll take a look in the next day or two when I arrive home.
