Websites to make a portfolio
-
I personally love Wordpress. You can start with the free version and if you like it, you can buy a domain name later (so that it just says "yourname.com" instead of "yourname.wordpress.com"). It takes a little while to learn, but it's pretty powerful for being free.
If you want something to give potential clients/employers, you'll for sure need something more professional than deviantArt. That being said, Wix recently acquired deviantArt, so you might look into Wix for building your site.
Hope this helps! -
@MissMarck Thanks I have heard of wordpress i will give it a look,Wix have no website service set up with DA yet, but I might look at Wix also,I agree Deviant art is not ideal a very cluttered gallery and adverts everywere, but I have made quite a lot of friends so that is nice.Being on SVS and looking at peoples lovely portfoloios has got me thinking. Thanks

Squarespace is another option to build your site.
In the meantime, I recommend using the portfolio site that you get with your DA account. I think if you just go to http://portfolio.deviantart.com/ while your logged into DA you can build it from there.

Hi Xovq Thanks for replying Squarespace looks nice,I need something I can divide into sections for my different art types. The websites all look promising.I had the DA premium before and it was still quite messy Thanks for your help.

I'm another Wordpress lover. I like to code my own sites, but Wordpress is (I feel) uniquely placed to cater to everyone's level of ability with webby stuff. My partner likes to use their ready-made templates, and they have some awesome portfolio styles available.

@DOTTYP I use squarespace and I have no problem having different sections! (you can check my website below, I have 3 sections in my portfolio but you can create as many as you want! It's so easy and intuitive to use and their custumer service is very good (if you need any help)

I'm a Weebly user, it works great for me, but from what I understand it isn't all that different from similar builders like Wix or Squarespace.
