Make sure that it is small enough, super large files won't work. Try 1000 px or less in the longest dimension, and do the "save for web" option.

I'll give that a go. Reduced it to 500px longest side already though and it still didn't work - argh!

Double check that you did "save for web", which will make it 72dpi. Other saving options might make it 300dpi, which will make it a whole lot bigger.
