Hey Jason! - I like the movement with tilted angle to the piece, really shows off that sense of danger. I think the biggest thing for me would be that the painting looks really soft overall and the background colors are competing with your main focal point. I'd love to see a bit more definition on the squirrel and the robin. I'm enjoying the story telling part of this, as I look at it. I'm curious as to why the robin doesn't just fly away from the fight, maybe it because it's so enamored by the squirrel's killer mustache. (Which I love by the way! The squirrels face is great)

Hi Jason, I agree with @artwithashley's comments. Here are some additional thoughts for you to consider.

Concept: The squirrel dressed as a musketeer is unusual and unexpected, which is super fun. But why is he challenging the bird? I think you can build interest by adding some context. For example, what if the bird were taking something that the squirrel wants, like acorns?

The background colors and textures are interesting, but I keep wondering what the blue is. Is it sky? water? And the heavy texture is competing somewhat with the main characters. If it's simply a stormy looking background, I suggest that you minimize the texture and desaturate the colors of the background.

Composition: Ideally, you want to have a viewer linger over your piece, their eye moving around. Currently, my gaze goes from the squirrel to the bird and back again, and there are trapped air pockets (below the big branch, and between the squirrel's tail and the tree). Lastly, the tree trunk is very straight up and down. I've uploaded a drawover showing what I mean (see left image). If you make some quick adjustments, though, you can bring more movement into your piece (see right image). I took the liberty of adding my acorn suggestion. Hope you don't mind.

@Jason-Bowen Cool, I should have also mentioned that I like your loose painterly style. It makes your characters feel like they're moving. Looking forward to seeing your progress on this piece.
