My little digital doggy
-
I have been practicing drawing on a tablet and figuring out Krita a little. I only had three layers. I added the words on top of the dog so they could be read. I do know that that layer would normally be underneath the dog layer but then you couldn't read the words. I guess I will learn that fancy stuff later. Anyway, here's a beginners experimental digital dog. Lots to learn still! No critique necessary. Just wanted to share. Thanks.

@KathrynAdebayo Thanks!

Cute!
Quite a cool style, kinda rought looking.
I like how you described the form with the fur, there's however one thing I'd like to criticise, hope you don't mindThere's very little shadows going on on the fur itself. The part of the belly that we see would not be lit, same goes for the area under his ears or even the eye area, since there is some fur above it that prolly would cast some shadow. It kinda flattens the image :disappointed_but_relieved_face:
I know it's a very graphic style and approach, but there is a cast shadow on the ground so...why no shades on doggo?
Besides that, it's cool! I could totally see this guy in a children's book!

@IgorWoznicki Thanks for your critique. Definitely see what you mean. I may revisit it later. I am happy that I was able to get that far
The nice thing is, I can work on it later and not have to redo the entire thing as I often do with my traditional work! I have another one I'm working on right now. Maybe I'll open that one up to critiques though. I guess I could try the drop shadow thing if I can figure it out and use that on the doggy to see what happens, right? I'm using free shareware called Krita. Still figuring out the tools, etc.

@Marsha-Kay-Ottum-Owen It's cool to see that you're willing to try out new software!
Krita is an awesome tool, good luck with learning how to use 'em!
-
@IgorWoznicki Thanks. Do you use it?
-
so cute--I hope you did not lose this work
-
@BichonBistro
Thanks, no, I still have this one

@Marsha-Kay-Ottum-Owen yay!

@Marsha-Kay-Ottum-Owen I own adobe cloud's subscribtion so I am all about that photoshop but I gave Krita a try to see what's the fuss about and I liked it quite a lot
It's a great alternative for PS. If I didn't need all the other adobe software that goes along with subscribtion, I think I'd be using Krita instead.
