      I just finished this page in my sketchbook and I'm not sure if it sits well with me. And I can't distinguish if it's really because there's something to be done for it to look cooler or it's just me getting caught up in my insecurities.

      What do you think?

        Really love this scene and the composition of it!

        I get that you want to highlight the character/ traveller/ wanderer in the foreground. So perhaps a light, contrasting colour tone for the city/ fortress in the backdrop. I love the Egyptian inspiration there for the long procession of statues. Really cool!

        Also, might look into adding some desert flora and fauna for added atmospheric effect.

        Other than that, really digging this. Great stuff! 🙂

          @TianLian I think its a really cool design. My suggestion but since its in your sketch book might be hard is to make the man in front larger.

            @Oriana-Fernandez Thank you!
            I wasn't really working towards a strong focal point. I was more interested in creating a strong foreground, midground and background sense and a feeling of depth.
            Thanks for your kind words, appreciate it!

              @Chip-Valecek YEEEEES, I know. This is a mistake I did in the thumbnail stage too. I tried to remedy it, but ultimately kinda failed. I'll keep it in mind for the next one though.
              Thank you!

                Yes, I think that overall- it's a really cool image!

                At this point there are some nitpicky things that I feel could be improved upon, but I think by and large you were successful. 🙂

                      Definitely a strong foreground. I do pretty everything digitally so the fact that you've just gone for it in your sketchbook impresses me!
