      Thought I would join the band wagon of sketchbook making here. Anyway I was playing around in Manga Studio 5 last night, and drew my friend Jenn as a hula girl... the halftone look is so much fun to do.

        Just for the heck of it, I did some color holds on the black lines for this piece... gonna leave it as is.

          EDIT: please do not download or share this picture, as it is for Client work. I know no one will, but its better to be safe than sorry. Thank you.

          What I spent the day drawing yesterday and today for my wife... she will turn these into a repeating pattern for one of those bound notebooks (for a client of hers) that everyone used to write homework in when we were kids, and the only choices was that weird black speckled cover.

          I've done work like this for her before, lol oddly enough drawing meats and cheeses... this time out it was spices: this was done in Adobe Illustrator with custom brushes I made a while back, and about 3 new ones just for this project.

          Can you name the spices?

          Here's a clue, one is disproportionately large compared to the others, remember each was done separately, I just pieced them here together. The top left was the first one I did, and they got considerably more detailed as I went on, cause I just started drawing with more texture. Lastly one of them is upside down...

            @Bobby-Aquitania - ok I think spices are:

            Top Row - going left to right:
            Basil (maybe mint if not basil), then cinnamon, then is it nutmeg?

            Middle Row
            Garlic, Rosemary, Ginger

            Bottom Row
            Peppers, Vanilla and Star Anise?

              Right on the money Rich, basil, not mint, and yes nutmeg and star anise!

              Good to know it translates well, cause it will help sell notebooks.

                      Didn't want to create a new thread, but thought you guys would like to see some cool brushwork by this artist on my FB feed...

                      Luigi Citrone

                      Be sure to click on any video in his feed, and that will connect to all his other ones... great wash work with his brush. Mostly watercolor over Inked lines, which he also does... classic comic book work. But really nice to see him draw almost with his brush as he applies color, and not just filling in the shapes.
