Book Cover Project with Dragons!
-
Hi Guys,
Working out the composition for a book cover (text will go on the bottom of the image). I'm liking it so far
but just wanted to post and see how its translating so far. Still lots of work ahead, but let me know your thoughts.We are in a dense forest, the lighting is coming through a break in the trees above. A girl is hugging her dragon.
Thanks in advance peeps!

nothing showing up in terms of an image. Should I be seeing something here?
-
how about now? @Lee-White
-
@Kendra-Minadeo yup it's showing!!
-
@carlossketches yay!
-
@Kendra-Minadeo i think the trees aren't translating just yet. A bit more work to make it more forest like, maybe some asymmetry.
-
@Kendra-Minadeo I think it is a nice composition and it looks interesting. I feel like the dragon's head needs to be bigger though because it is really small compared to the body. I look forward to seeing where you go with this!

Here's an update.
Trying to make the scene warm like autumn.
I often struggle with how dark and light to make the values.
Let me know what you guys think.Thanks!

Nice composition and drawing style! I'm liking the color tones you're doing a good job on warm and cool. Will you saturate the colors more as you go?
-
Thanks @bharris! I think the saturation depends on how dark and light things end up being. I get stuck usually around here, trying to figure out what needs to be darker and lighter to help make things pop without overdoing it. Will see how the next round goes.

Hey Guys,
Looking for some feedback on details and lighting. I like a painterly look with hints of detail in the foreground and far background, not sure if thats coming through. Any suggestions? @will-terry @lee-white @lonelycatpress or anyone else?
I'm also a little torn on the day vs night versions. Either one feel better than the other?
Thanks!
