Sadly, you may have heard that beloved children’s book author/illustrator Tomie DePaola recently passed away. He’s one of few artists that have won both Newberry and Caldecott honors.
As a tribute, I’m working on a piece of his that I admire greatly from “The Clown of God”. Here’s my sketch.

@Jeremy-Ross I really like your drawing so far. Its a really good tribute to Tomie's style- while still being yours. It is so sad that he is gone...he is one of my favorites.. I love reading all of the Strega Nona books to my kids (In a thick, really bad Italian accent)
