    Hey guys!

Last week during one of @Will-Terry 's painting sessions (I think.. it may have been the podcast) @Lee-White mentioned how when he was in art school he mentally had a 100 bad painting number before he put any pressure on himself (or something like that) Well... that really stuck with me and I have been mulling it over in my mind since I heard it.

SO often I am just crazy paralyzed because I feel like I have to produce something "good" to be taken seriously.. and not even really seriously by anyone else, mostly myself. So.. I think I am going to tackle this. This will be my thread for my paintings... I hope not all 100 will be bad, and my aim is not to be self deprecating at all.. that is really the last vibe I want to give off. The point is that it is a low pressure way that I can experiment and grow without having to feel like I have something to prove.

I'd like to document it on the forum to keep myself accountable. Feel free to give any critiques or comments or just to watch what will hopefully be my growth and development!

    Thanks!
    Anna

Cool! Glad you are using the "100 paintings" idea to help take some pressure off. The tension and anxiety that comes from making art is hard to get over and this trick can really ease that. Then you are free to make whatever you want without any penalty.

Your piece here is definitely not a bad painting. In fact, it's really nice! Great job! So now you have another 99 to go and you are off to a great start. Don't worry about the failures. In fact, worry if you AREN"T having failures. That means you aren't pushing yourself hard enough!

                Keep it up!!! : )

                    Good afternoon!

Here is painting #2. I was trying to mess around with a combination of digital and traditional media..

On another note... can one change the subject of a thread without deleting the whole thread? I’m beginning to think "100 bad paintings"is a bit overkill and "100 paintings" will do πŸ™‚

                    Happy Friday

@Annaaronson You definitely posted this in the wrong thread!! This is NOT a BAD painting!!! Maybe you should change the thread subject to "100 Not Bad At All Paintings"... πŸ˜‰

@Annaaronson could you share your process on painting #2? I am trying very hard to find some kind of way to combine digital and traditional media. I am courious what the painting look like when you switch to work digitally.
I was doing a tradtional painting today and wanting to finish the painting digitally. I am courious on how others do it.

@xin-li absolutely. Ill upload a picture of it before I worked with it digitally. I did the original in gouache, watercolor, and a tiny bit of prismacolor ( that didn't really show up well) I scanned it in just by taking a picture of it on my phone because I couldn't get my scanner to work, ha! and just used the 6B pencil in procreate over the top πŸ™‚
