I’m thinking of giving Ko-Fi a try. Long story short for anyone who may not be familiar — it’s an alternative to Patreon that doesn’t require you to constantly create extra content for higher payment tiers. However, Ko-Fi does have a premium feature that let’s you use it like Patreon (and other Patreon alternatives).

I was wondering if any of my fellow SVS forum mates have experience using Ko-Fi and have any tips, warnings, or praises to share? 🙂

Especially this part in their terms of use: “ Any content you upload to our website will be considered non-confidential and non-proprietary. You retain all of your ownership rights in your content but you grant us and other users of our site a limited licence to use, store and copy that content and to distribute and make it available to third parties. We may use this content to improve our site and our business without liability to you.”

I just started up a Ko-Fi this week, so I'm not very experienced with it but I have liked it so far. It's very easy to set up and use. I see lots of people using it and it seems like a pretty reputable and great site.
However, I mainly use it for doing off-site commissions; I don't upload my content directly to Ko-Fi. E.g. I'll offer small commissions in exchange for someone buying me a few "coffees". I find it easier that way to control my content, without worrying about any content stipulations in Ko-Fi's terms of use.

Congrats on starting up your ko-fi, @jwing! I like how you are focusing on commission pieces.
