Sketching gnome lady ...please comment
-
Wile sketching this Gnome lady appeared. I decided to work on it as a personal piece.
Any s uggestions for environment and the snail are very welcome! -
@Leontine-Gaasenbeek Looks great Leontine. The only slight confusion I have is her left arm where the material folds. I like how she's a little stout, it adds charm to her character. Please post the final version if you ink and colour.
-
@Rowan-Ferguson thanks Rowan, ill take a look at that arm.
-
Cute, but this has so much more potential. I'd love to see a little more connection between her and the snail, and a bit more life in it. Perhaps try giving the snail the same characteristics you would see in a dog going for a walk? Excited, stupidly happy and moving all over.
Hope you don't mind, I did a quick little draw over to show you what I mean.
-
@Amanda-Jean Thanks Amanda! ill use that in the next sketch!
-
Here 's a new version. sketching is so much fun! Its a nice to make some more wile having vacation next week. Please upvote if you like it!

I love this piece, only thing I would do is make the worms head a little smaller.
-
@Dado-Almeida Thanx Dado! Ill take your advice and start the perspective class. Printed out the workbook already! Like your sketching and progress during the process. Ill work on this for a bit more aswell! Thanks again!

@Dado-Almeida thanx!

@Leontine-Gaasenbeek I really like your costume design on the character. I understand why you gave her shoes in the redo, since they're going out for a walk, but I really liked her socks in the initial post. I hope you can use them in another drawing! Love the little touch of the acorn as the dog/slug's ball. Can't wait to see where you take this.

@Maile-McCarthy Thank you, As soon as I return from vacation, next week, ill start working on it again. I want to work on a background as well. not sure what to choose, a nice gnomehouse, treehouse, or a more simple background.
-
@Leontine-Gaasenbeek I look forward to seeing what you come up with for the background. I keep thinking of the woods where I practice archery. We see tons of slugs there, and I could so easily imagine these characters popping out for a walk among the leaves.
Hope you have a pleasant vacation

Started with a background, which is not my speciality. Before I start painting comments again are welcome!
-
Much beter, the only odd thing I can see, is the gnome lady feet look squashed. Great work!
-
@Steve-Young Thanks Steve! I've changed the feet a bit, next is coloring!
-
Cant wait to see it!
-
And the final piece. Very happy with it. Up to the next one!
