Question regarding Dummy books
-
hello everyone,
I hope everyone is safe during these tricky times.I have a question regarding dummy books.
I'm working on an original story, around 32 pages.-finished a rough storyboard.
- painted the first page for color reference.
- currently working on detailed drawings for the rest of the pages.
My question is, when should I contact an agent?
when the book is fully finished?
or when I finish the detailed storyboard?
Or should I just send the text with some sample pages? because I'm pretty sue there will be a lot of editing.thank you in advance for any help.

Hi Doha! It is standard to have the full dummy book done in rough sketches, with only 2-3 spreads and a front cover done as a full coloured illustration. This means the agent gets a good idea of your work without you completing all the artwork for the book, as it is likely a publisher will always have small changes they will want to make so then you aren’t re doing a huge amount of artwork!

Hi Erin, thank you for your reply. That's what I thought but I couldn't find any precise info on this subject.
