@Rachel myself I don't even really notice the difference between them....I just use what ever one I have until the end gets worn down flat....lol...I have a piece of plexiglass taped over my cintiq monitor so I can push down as hard as I want without having to worry about scratching my screen. (this is also a good fix if you've already scratched the monitor put the plexiglass over it and you won't have to worry about making the scratch deeper)

@Christine-Garner Thanks! I think my nephew is going to take care of it for me! Yay! My husband bought me a domain several months ago through go daddy and so I guess I have that. It's not connected with a certain site or anything. He and I don't work well together on these kind of things, he's a computer guy, I'm usually way confused so, anyway, it looks like I have some things in place but lack the skills. Thankfully, my nephew is an entrepreneur and has helped people with start up businesses etc. so I luck out in that respect! He can put together a simple website with a cart. I built my other free wordpress site with the help of another author......I'm needy. Thank you so much for your insights and willingness to share your knowledge!!!!

Thank you for your advice on this guys, I've been looking into the software you mentioned just to see what my options are. Unfortunately my budget does not allow for Adobe CC just yet, however I want to learn 3D sculpting in Blender at some point (free and open source) and that comes with video editing tools and animation tools that might be useful as well. I would have loved to try ZBrush as well, I've been fantasizing about that software for years after I tried a free trial years ago, but I definitely can't afford that yet either. Bummer....

@evilrobot I like the idea of being able to include two styles. Since I am self-publishing my own books ( I guess it's a hobby job) I can try many styles and hopefully they will all be worth buying. The first book I did was for a friend and it was watercolor and ink. I developed a style for that particular book. My current project is done with rapidograph and colored pencils and looks quit different. I don't really have a portfolio organized yet but, it seems that if you do both styles well you could include both in your portfolio. If you get hired, they will let you know which one caught their eye, wouldn't they? Then you would use that style for that project. I think that both styles look good and could be marketed. Does that double your chances of getting work ? 🙂

The videos are hosted on this website using vimeo. 🙂 I have vimeo blocked on my laptop, but the videos still come through for me. But, I think the best option for you would be to purchase the classes and download them. With the subscription model, you can only view the videos through your wifi on this site. You can only download them if you buy them, and since your studio doesn't have wifi, I suggest going somewhere with free wifi, downloading the classes and then going to your studio and watching them. I believe you can get the digital drawing class by will terry (it has a picture of a dragon as the thumbnail) fully downloadable by watching one of his videos about it ( I'm not sure which one, sorry 😞 ) and emailing to the email address he mentions. Hope this helps! :)))

@Bob-Crum Thanks for the awesome break down this Will Terry's and Jake Parkers assignment from the Children's Illustrating course, great fun , so im supposed to attempt to draw the same character from different angles.

I have been trying to find the angle from the eyes, the feet are great place to start. I always start of ok then get a bit confused about which part of the character should fit in which part of the cube , not sure if that makes sense

I think Will talks about this in the children's picture book class - the one that Jake does a mock layout for Little Red Riding Hood. Are you submitting your story to agents or publishers? I have been asked for it a story in manuscript form with a character design sample as well as a pb dummy. If you go the dummy route, in my critique group it is pencil illustrations, with copy in place (simple font) and a single color spread, saved as a pdf for easy viewing. Hey Lydia I just joined SCBWI here in Arizona so I haven't really been able to attend any events yet (there aren't any happening any time soon here) Good to know about the dummy book. I will defiantly make sure mine is done before I go. Congrats and good luck with Cricket Media please let us know if anything comes of it. I've been trying to come up with a good design for a post card myself but it's really hard to figure out what kind of image to put on there. Also really hard to come up with a mailing list.

@Katrina-Fowler so far I am liking it. Have not been able to play to much with it as it took some time yesterday to install everything I need for work on it. I did however take it will be this afternoon while my dog was getting groomed and played around a little in photoshop. Once I am done working today i will finish with the setup. I do have a external monitor which will be set up to use when in my office as well as an external keyboard. The nice thing about the surface book is the keyboard that comes with it, i just think when i flip the screen to draw that keyboard would become unusable. Either way i will work on my new work flow.

@mattramsey He is a freelancer, so I'm not sure what they regularly do... He didn't give me a ceiling but I do think I would come up with an overall cost if I pursue this. It would make revisions and a kill fee easier to understand.
