Hi guys! I missed the first 2 Yeti prompts,so I was going to wait until we moved on to something new but the guys convinced me to jump in now! I’m in....not sure if this is the frying pan or the fire! 🔥
      Guess we’ll soon find out!

I’ve never made it to the top 16, but I have high hopes for this little (big) guy! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

This is a cleaned up version of my rough sketch. I haven’t bothered to add details to the person in the camper yet.9101B986-9FC1-43FB-9CCB-00965CA126C3.jpeg

I’ve made a few additions. I plan to have some smoke or “aroma” wafting up as well.

@alicia I think it looks great so far. Just be careful not to add too much background that it doesn't qualify as a spot illustration.

@jenithornhill thank you! Do you think if the mountains will make it not qualify? (I think I’m going to remove the top of the circle)

@alicia I am not sure...I am a little up in the air over what qualifies. I have a mountain in the background of mine, but I am worried it will be an issue for judging.

@alicia if it helps, I usually think of spot illustrations in terms of including absolute essentials. If an element isn't needed to tell that part of the story, then there's no reason to include it in a spot illustration.

The simpler a spot illustration, the more impact it often has. They are usually character and action-focused.

In your composition, some elements are needed to provide scale, so we see how huge your yeti is. But are the mountains needed for that? Do they add anything to the story you're telling?

@Melissa-Bailey-0 I see. So maybe I should cut out the mountains & the circular format I was developing. Thanks for the clarification!

Here is an updated version. After looking up some more examples of spot illustrations, I went ahead and kept the mountains. I hope that is the right choice. Does anyone see any issues I am missing?

I brought the camper closer, cleaned up the tangents I noticed, adjusted the colors, and touched up the border. I think I’m about done (if I stop looking at it, lol)
