October "sprout" WIP

I'm thinking about doing a loose piece as a "sprout" entry using my September character. This has been a bear of a month because I'm working on more than one bureaucratic tangle, but I've finally opened up a few days to work, and doing a quick piece might be a nice exercise in not agonizing!
Anyway, can you tell what the story is in this sketch, and do the values and placement help tell the story? Thanks for any feedback!

@LauraA I loved your September Character design, I think you have an amazing style and I can't wait to see what you do with this one. I think it reads well. She is picking mushrooms and they are all hiding from her. Very Cute!

@K-Flagg Yes, thank you! I meant it as funny, but maybe one shouldn't think about it too much! Here's a different take. This one is more about the hiding and less about the mischief between the mushrooms. The question is, is it still "sprout-y"?
