I'm trying something new that's for me and I'm really not sure how well it's working. I'd especially like to hear about story as told through value emphasis and shading, but I'd also like to hear about whether all those little faces are working well together to tell the story or whether there is too much going on. Is the level of finish appropriate? I'd also welcome anything else you might think of.

I really need outside eyes on this, especially since I'm inventing this stylistic variation as I go. This is a learning experience so if I really need to completely redo it or make big changes, let me know. I might not do it now due to time constraints but I'd like to hear it anyway. Thanks!

I really like it. The story is really good. I also like the girl and the mushroom characters. I am not sure if you are finished or if this is a sketch, but I think it will look a lot better if you draw out the blades of grass closest to the camera, rather than just having the hatch lines. The hatch lines are great for the background grass, but the stuff right up close to the viewer should be in more detail.

@jenithornhill Thanks! That's exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. In fact, I had sketched it quickly and was thinking I needed to neaten it up, but I hadn't thought about drawing out the blades.
