New here, very rough draft for ideas

Hello, I am new here and new to illustration. I am going to enter the contests every month to challenge myself, even though I know I won’t be close to being in the top 16. This is a very rough draft of my idea of having a tiger riding a unicycle in a tight wire in the circus. I would love some pointers. If I need to do a more detailed version before I get feedback, let me know.

@reelynn welcome! this is a cute idea, I feel like it would be clearer without all the webbing or canopy? Maybe adding a secondary character would add more to the story. Also more of a worms eye perspective would interesting! Good luck!

@asyas_illos Thank you for the critique. I will try some thumbnails for other ideas. The “webbing” is the tent. What would you suggest I do instead?

@reelynn I see it will probably read better once you have color, but it never hurts to play around with thumbnails!

@reelynn I like the concept. I think if you cropped it down it would help to focus more on the tiger - then you can lose most of the empty space/netting. Also, maybe think what characteristics a tiger would actually have in this situation? Could they be juggling salmon? Or chasing a hunter who's also on a unicycle? Silly ideas but you get my point hopefully

@mymightypencil and @Asyas_illos I am thinking of changing the idea I a father reading a book about hunting to his daughter at bedtime while she is daydreaming about becoming a circus personality. Opinions?

@reelynn this is also a creative idea, it definitely adds more to the story. To be clear a father tiger reading to its cub? Initially I thought people and was thinking that’s an interesting thing to be reading to your daughter before bed lol

@asyas_illos yes, hahah, sorry. It is a tiger dad reading to his cub daughter. Here is a rough sketch idea.

@asyas_illos I am also thinking of adding to the sketch several things like circus toys and decorations so you can see she is a bit obsessed with the circus.
