I thought I would try to turn this prompt on its head and explore what happens when luck runs out. I plan on adding elements such as good luck charms and bad luck items in this pic that are being flung from the car.

Do you think it’s too dark? Will was warning against being too dark.

Does it read well? Does it look like he is being flung from a racecar that has careened off a cliff?

@chrisaakins I personally think it’s a great concept and it’s done really well, but I can’t stop thinking about what will said during last critique arena about him always looking at it from children’s book point of view, and Kim’s piece didn’t make it because it made him feel uncomfortable for the young cat, ( the big lion was child predator like) and I feel like yes it might worry some that this poor rabbit is plummeting off a cliff… maybe there’s a way to soften the blow? Maybe he’s just into a water ditch or something? Not trying to shoot you down or anything, I always enjoy your work!

@chrisaakins I am having a hard time seeing the rabbit being FLUNG out... Maybe it's the angle the car is at or position of the rabbit relative to the car?

@chrisaakins Add a parachute? Or a jet pack? Lol That bunny has got to get out of that bad situation somehow! I think unlucky would be fine for children's books as long as it turns out ok in the end. My Dad told me about the German children's story where the kid got his thumb cut off with scissors because he wouldn't stop sucking his thumb. I didn't like that very much. There is a fine line between ok and not. Hard to know where it is,

@chrisaakins I PERSONALLY don't care for this. But in general I don't care for dark concepts, and presumably we are about to see the bunny plummet to his death.

I would recommend you look at Edward Gorey if you're into these kind of stories though:

Lee talks about these kinds is images in his visual story telling class though I recommend you check it out
