I got an iPad Pro last week and this is my first wip with procreate! It’s inspired by all my memories of tornados growing up, and a friend/neighbor who is now a storm chaser.
I know I’ve got a lot to learn but I’ve been having fun. I’d love some feedback with anything that could be improved! F59E12F4-FEF8-44FA-BE8F-DD58B3CD267C.jpeg

I like the concept. It's a fun moment (since I know no real people are being hurt). I also like your rendering throughout the piece.

My struggle is I'm not sure the proportions are right in different places. The chaser is on the other side of the weather van, but then looks like they would be taller than the van if they stood next to it. Is that a shed instead of a barn near the far chicken? It looks great either way, but I'm a little thrown off by the size of each next to each other.

The tornado looks GREAT, too, but if she's looking sideways at it, then isn't it right on top of her and thus not very big?

Now, it all looks cool and playing with proportions has set up some very cool styles, so it might be that I'm just looking at it a little wrong since I'm only looking at one image in your style.

Those are my thoughts. I could be way off.

@KevinTreaccar I was thinking the same thing! But I wasn’t sure if it was just me, but now that you’ve said it, I think the proportions need some help. Thank you!

@KevinTreaccar btw, I wanted her to be on a hill. Should I make the road smaller? And should the barn be a chicken coop instead? It’s hard to pinpoint where I started to go wrong. Hahaha

@AlliFaith The barn could be a chicken coop or shed. I think it’s probably the proximity of the shadows. They’re right on top of each other right now – putting them close together – and then their size isn’t very different.

Maybe move the far chicken’s shadow closer? Then it could just be closer to the front chickens but higher in the air. That might help create distance between the far chicken and the barn.

You might also play with the chaser’s hair a little? Right now, it looks straight back. That helps establish in my head that the tornado is directly in front of her. If it’s diagonal to her, though, that creates distance. What would it do to her hair?

@KevinTreaccar thank you so much! That’s all very helpful. I’m going to keep working on it and see what I can do 🙂
