Animal Kids - Mini Project

@Gary-Wilkinson Lookin' good bro!
One note: maybe swap the kid in the cow costume with a girl.
My 9 year old daughter that was playing Roblox next to me when I brought this up when she turned to my screen and said, "Is that a foot or a penis? Ohhhhh... I get it - it's the utters" then immediately went back to playing. I had a good laugh and had to post it lol.
-
These are wonderful. What software are you using?
-
@jdubz omg lol.
-
@jdubz
we’re all thinking it, lol but kids are brutally honest.

Guess everyone just has corrupted minds. I'll have to see what I can do to make it less phallic.
@Johanna-Kim Thank you for the feedback. The frog one is my favorite so far too. I'll have a think about the ladybug, maybe vary it up as I go along
Wanted to practice some fluffy texture so went for a sheep this time. Not overly pleased with it, but it was good practice before moving on to another one.
-
@Gary-Wilkinson I think the sheep is great!
-
@Gary-Wilkinson I think the sheep is pretty fantastic! We’re our worst critics…
-
@Gary-Wilkinson Love the sheep kid. The texture and positioning, esp. the hair, is so good! And I like the ladybug here the best.
-
@Gary-Wilkinson The sheep is adorable! And I've totally made similar unintentionally explicit drawings
happens to the best of us!
-
Really enjoy your wonderful illustrations. Thanks so much for sharing.
-
@Robert-Henderson @Gary-Wilkinson Yes, me too!
-
I love your style and the texture on all of these! I’m going to out myself and be disappointed that you made the cow a chubby kid lol, grain of salt since I know my pov. I would consider making it with coloring and horns more like a bull fighting breed of cow and without the udders. You have a story already there with them mad about seeing red with the ladybug, but that’s a dairy cow.
That might be an only my pov too though, I remember in art school meeting a girl from Chicago who didn’t know cows were anything but black and white Holsteins. -
@HeatherB There wasn't much thought into making the kid large or small to be honest, but I do apologise if it comes off in any negative way. In regards to the type of cow, I just threw in whatever felt like "cow"
Still need to decide where to add a ladybug to this one but happy enough with it apart from that
-
@Gary-Wilkinson haha this one makes me laugh!
-
I've decided to redesign the ladybug to fit in more with the style of the main characters by giving it eyes and more of an appealing shape. Fortunately I already had a few ladybug designs that I had thumbnailed for an earlier book, and although I didn't use it I always liked the design of it.
I think this new design will allow the ladybug to play more within the scene to make things a little more interesting and amusing. What do you think?
One interesting insight into the process of this was that I was going to add a chain for the swing, but changed to a rope as the detail of it was too busy (at least it was good practice)
For those that are interested, here is a short view of my process. You can also see it a little clearer on my instagram page if you use that app.
Line - Block in - Detail (begin to shape form with lighting) - More Detail

@Gary-Wilkinson Love this!
-
@Gary-Wilkinson The textures on your work are all really beautiful!
-
@Gary-Wilkinson Oh, I love this so much! Thank you for showing the different stages of your process. I love seeing how people work, and I especially love the life and energy in your original sketch.
Are these for a prompt/art challenge? Are you planning to create 100 kids in animal outfits? ^_^ That's intense!
-
@Gary-Wilkinson I especially appreciate the motion in this one and I think the ladybug holding on like that is a wonderful addition.
-
What fun characters with great colors, textures and personalities. Love them!
