@Nyrryl-Cadiz I knew about @xin-li but i didn't know about @Neha-Rawat That's awesome. I don't have any illusions that I might win that thing, but do you think there's benefit to showing my work there anyway?

@Asyas_illos it's the yearly big one! August 5-7. My regional chapter is not holding regular events this month so that people can attend it. Here's a link. https://www.scbwi.org/events/summer-conference-2022/

@Valerie-Light I think definitely there’s benefits even if you don’t win you’ll still have been “seen”

I’m not sure if I have three illustrations I want to use, do the illustrations need to be entered by the 30th? Or just registered?

I entered 3 pieces in the winter conference. Nothing really came of it, but then I feel like I've got a ways to go with my art, so that is probably the reason! For me personally, entering art in my regional conference was much more helpful. I was actually able to get a portfolio critique at my regional conference from a working PB illustrator, which was super helpful! I've also found the connections I've made from my regional conference much more helpful than from the main conference. My thought has been to improve my illustrations as much as possible with SVS and the feedback from my regional conference, and then try for the big showcase again and see if that makes a difference. My goal is to feel ready to enter by this time next year. I kind of look at it as the regional events being more helpful for beginners and amateurs, and you are more likely to be noticed in the main conference once you are approaching a pro level. It just depends on where you are in your skill levels and career. Hope this helps!

@Valerie-Light I'm also attending for the first time! It's always a good idea to get some feedback and see what could be improved. I'm excited and a bit nervous to do the showcase and critique session, but can't wait to see everyone's artwork mostly!
