My little Cloud wips :)

Does the addition of the character on the right help with the concept? The little girl receiving hers will have a rainbow coming down.
-
@Asyas_illos oh I REALLY love this Asya!
It's super magical and the characters are gorgeous! Love the moustachioed Mr McDowd! And I like the character on the right, think it helps clarify the concept and adds a bit of humour. Can't wait to see this inked, think it's going to look amazing!
-
@helenbrady thanks so much I’m really enjoying it!
-
@Asyas_illos I love this so much! Can't wait to see it finished!
-
@Asyas_illos well I feel like that's always a good sign that you're on to something ay! X
-
Just a little updoodle
-
Ok so I removed one character so I could scooch stuff in to give the boy on the right a bit more room. And I changed his expression, does it work? Or was it better with him looking out at the viewer?
-
@Asyas_illos it feels a little bit too linear. I'm not drawn to one particular area over the other... I love the story, but something is missing. What if the kid holding the storm cloud is floating away? I think It would create some visual interest with changing the eye line and add some of the clouds magic... just a thought.
-
@AngelinaKizz well hopefully the color pop does the trick? Here’s where it’s at currently still messing with the rainbow
-
@AngelinaKizz I do like the idea of floating away though kinda like the parade girl I drew a bit ago…
-
Think I might be done…gonna let it sit for a bit
-
Wow what a wonderful Idea. It has me questioning if I should find a way to do more on mine.
.
I think most of your story is going to come from the interpretations of the troubles the kids in line are facing. Pretending I was Mcdowd I would be reading the customer to find the correct cloud to give.
A bright cloud for a sad kid
Multiple clouds for a lonely kid
A tall cloud for a short kid
A short for a tall kid
A cloud raining food for a hungry kidJust some simple ideas that came to mind. I really think the kid to cloud contrast is where the magic is going to be.
The cloud could have faded logo inside or maybe just different galaxy light source looking cores to imply the magic for that kid.
OOOO you could play off of color theory.
A poor kid receives a green cloud (growth/money)
A neglected kid receives a purple cloud (royalty)
Red (love) for lonely kid.
Yellow (Excitedment) for a sad kid.Im creating as I am typing so just disregard some or all of the ideas.
All in all I think it is smooth.
I wonder if a more established triangular composition would benefit by simply moving the cart back or forwards??? I'm not quite sure though, but it sounds kind of right. Kid - cloud - mcdowd.
You could attach mcdowd to his cart more.
I hope you don't mind ideas are just coming to me and I am simply sharing.
Either way I am in love with this piece already! I cannot wait to see more.
-
@Asyas_illos I adore this, it’s so cute! You could easily flesh this out into a full story, I think there’s so much there.
-
@mia-clarke thank you! And I have thought about that…
-
@frankiiij thanks for all that wonderful feedback and the suggestions. I did like how it’s kind of like “a box of chocolates, you never what you’re gonna get”. But you made some very good connections there!

What do you guys think of the addition of the buttons and handle and bottles? I couldn’t figure out how to put clouds into the box and make it look it good, but I wanted some sort of clue to his process, because yes they’re magical but it just need something concrete I think. They’re are just sketched so not permanent yet.
-
@Asyas_illos I like the additions. I also like that you made the shoe laces more freely moving, prior I initially thought it was a missing leg. I think his process is clearer with the bottles.
-
@AngelinaKizz haha I thought that myself lol that’s why I switched it up!

@Asyas_illos Love this!
