This prompt has given me a headache! But after loads of scrapped thumbnails I've landed on this idea. Kamari has finally reached the chest, and is soon to be overwhelmed by the flood of orcs/goblins. But within the chest there is a magical sword that might just be the key to defeating them. I normally work in pencil first, then I'll be taking it into Photoshop to layer in some colours. Do any of you guys use mixed media like this?

Great concept too.. I'm not sure the sword is needed for the story, but I don't think it confuses it either, so I'd say go for it!

One thing I'd maybe add or modify is: why does the end of the bridge have such a clean stop? I'd think maybe (depending on your story) it might have crumbled away or deteriorated over time, or maybe it is still being built and then it makes sense to end so cleanly.
Just some thoughts from an external perspective. Keep up the great work!
@Kristen-Lango thanks! That's a good point. I'll definitely work on that when it comes to painting and make it look more run down.
@Mia-Clarke thank you! That's a good point. It shouldn't be difficult to do a version without the sword as well, so I can see if it makes it more mysterious. It's great to get other people's perspective!
@MarcRobinson This is looking awesome! I honestly can't find anything I would change about it. It reminds me of a DnD adventure. I think a lot of people in SVS tend to work digitally, but some definitely use mixed media like this. And you're obviously really good at this technique, so don't hesitate to work in the way you're comfortable! I'm just barely getting into digital art myself. Up until last month all of my Critique Arena entries were done traditionally with a few digital tweaks.

@kirsten-mcg thanks! I'm glad to hear people are using a variety of different techniques. I've always found drawing traditionally gives me loads of nice texture, but painting digitally can be so forgiving, which I like!

Out of curiosity, are you familiar with Justin Gerard's work? He's got a similar hybrid pencil-digital technique and I learned a lot by watching him. Also, he's got a discord community, and the folks over there would go bananas for your art, just sayin'.
