I am working on a personal book project and developing ideas for one illustration showing a kid upset that it is time for bed. I want the kid to look sad and upset, but not whiney. Which one works better?
      Thanks!

@tom-barrett to me the first one feels more genuinely upset.

As the mother of an almost three year old that does this every night and nap..... yeah the first one. It's the angry yell followed by the devastated tears. You could give him angry eyebrows but a tear in the corner of his eye. But it also is great as is.
