As the mom of an extremely picky eater, I remember making all kinds of smoothies and baked foods adding vegetables and fruits and many of them looked green but were actually very good!

This is another idea inspired by the prompt.
As mentioned in my other entry, this took me back to a time where I had to be very creative with food for my picky eater. Another technique I learned was to not only involve my child during cooking and prepping, but also we did a lot of sensory play with food. Although we never did a witchy themed play, we did lot of playing.

Lately I've been trying to avoid my normal approach of rendering everything like crazy- I want to use form as a focal point and let other parts of the drawing recede into flat patches of tone. Hopefully that helps me focus on composition more!

Here I wanted a creepy and gross subject without being too offputting. But i wonder if it feels a little cold?

Hi! Here's my first ever submission! I tried my best, and hopefully it will be even better next time! I had to crop the image a lot for the file size to work (digital confuses me).

Full illustrations scare me but I played with separating the foreground and background in a new way.

My entry! I want to be done you guys. I have to move on to some other tasks, I keep seeing stuff I want to fix. Input welcome! Hoping my story is clear. I took the mom out and put Dad in, he's responsible for the kids this weekend. Drawing from life here, my Dad used to take us fishing and would bring home his catch, proudly serving it up for dinner and it was so nauseating to me. The smell... the lake, the fishiness... battered up and fried. YEEECCHHHH

@ArtistErin Great illustration! It would be nice to have a little more messiness in here- maybe some batter dripping off the bowl, a few spots on Dad's apron and gloves, and a bit on the kid’s t-shirt. Right now, it’s a little unclear what Dad is doing with the oyster, so those extra details could help. Nicely done overall! πŸ™‚

@Yogita-Chawdhary Thank you Yogita!! I will add some mess! That helps alot. He's supposed to be cooking a seafood spread but doesn't know what he's doing. I wanted it to be a weekend with Dad, one kid is playing with the food, one is disgusted by the smell. Maybe the mask prevents the idea that Dad is clueless in the kitchen. As I am writing here I need to add Mom coming home from work in shock to see the smelly mess! Feedback is golden πŸ™‚ Thanks again!

@Jacob-Davenport Love this!! Really fun concept. I appreciate the expressions of the frogs. Classic fine dining experience, quietly judging others when you could just mind your own business πŸ˜‚

Here's my submission for this month! I wanted to do a story about sharing foods between cultures, going carnivore vs. herbivore on this one. I think the story is coming across okay, I like the characters though. I ended up being 7/10 happy with how this one came out, still a win in my book!

Thanks to @mag for help with fixing up the composition!

Playing with composition a little more and building in more story! It's getting a little busy and my eyes are twitching I've been looking at this too long. Time for a break!

I decided to make another version of this picture from a different angle so that the frog and the food (worms) are more clearly visible. I thought a more subdued color scheme would fit here, capturing the mood the princess has as she looks at the frog.

edit: I enhanced the colors because the previous version felt a bit too gray and somewhat dull to me.

@ArtistErin I love the extra layer of story added on this iteration! For the kiddo in green, at first glance I thought she might have been sitting on top of the flour bag, would it be possible to move her up or down a bit to avoid that tangent?

I'll post another update soon! This is more fun now, I am glad I shelved it last night so I can see with clearer eyes πŸ™‚
