Continuing working on my YA style (Feedback Requested)
-
Hello! Welcome to another episode of me, looking how to adapt my illustration style for older audiences. Here is my latest WIP. I am looking for feedback on how I approached this piece. It's still at the linework stage, because I am afraid of doing a lot of rendering work, and then needing to go back to make changes
I played around with this drawing and took some liberties. The expressions are different on the lead character (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, with brown hair), because I felt that the illustration with his expression in the reference photo does not translate in a way that it conveys any specific or identifiable emotion. I also exaggerated and simplified some of the features on the girl to make her look less life-like and more stylized (RIP Michelle Trachtenberg).
How should I proceed with this stylization? Do you feel for YA it's a good start, or how should I approach this?

@Michael-Angelo-Go Looking good. A little tip when drawing lineart from real life photos. A good idea is to not trace everything for it to look good. You need to design and simplify the line and anatomy. Bonus for doing it that way is that you learn more about anatomy than simply tracing. Good work .
